What you may be trying to say is that high crime rates are correlated to low socioeconomic status, which is partially true. The problem is that socioeconomic status is also closely correlated with race [read: it’s a linear relationship]. What this means is that, yea, race and crime are a linear relationship. Where are the world’s most violent cities, those which qualified as the Murder Capital of the World at least once over the last four decades? THREE are in the north (Detroit, Washington, DC, and Gary, Indiana) and ONE is in the South (New Orleans). What do ALL of these cities have in common? At one point, more than 80% of the population were Blacks. We KNOW with mathematical certainty that each one percent increase in the percent of the population of a state or city which is Blacks WILL increase the homicide rate per 100,000 population by ONE homicide. How did Washington, DC, decrease its homicide rate from 80 to 40 homicides per 100,000 population? They decreased the percent of Blacks from 82% to 42%.
